Abstract: The proposed system comprises a turnkey magnetic anomaly detection system consisting of a high performance total field magnetometer, a vector magnetometer, an accelerometer, inputs for other sensors, plus software for heading error correction, noise suppression, dipole localization, and target tracking with low size, weight, power and cost.
Benefits: All users of magnetic survey instrumentation will benefit from a system with exceptional performance, integrated reference sensors, and signal processing. Oil and natural resource prospecting can take advantage of such a magnetometer system, especially when paired with an appropriate UAV system. Removing humans from flight will reduce survey costs and limit the occupational hazard of flying small aircraft far from assistance. The proposed magnetometer also has exceptionally strong features for use in brain imaging, heart imaging, other medical applications, and fundamental physics experiments requiring exceptionally high performance.
