| Abstract: |
A hearing protection system is proposed that allows the user to listen to ambient acoustic sounds at safe levels. The frequency and phase response of the system reproduces that of an unoccluded ear. Thus, directivity is maintained and a natural sound is achieved. The system is fully wireless and a noise dosimeter is integrated into the system. |
| Benefits: |
The system would be useful on Navy carrier decks, where it is sometimes necessary for maintainers to communicate without the use of a radio. Special operations and ground artillary operations could use the system to their advantage as well. Firefighters in the civilian sector would also be a potential customer. The system would be useful wherever one would like to monitor ambient acoustic signals at safe levels. |
