Abstract: |
The Advanced COmmunication and Control System Integrated Communication System Next (ACCS-ICSN) effort proposes to develop a new Integrated Communication System based on VoIP technology, Web based services, IP Tactical Terminals, and IP Wireless technology that employs open industry standard communications technology to the maximum extent possible. The design approcah will be based on a commercial Ethernet IEEE 802.x open architecture standard that will seamlessly interface with commerical communication equipment such as wireless phones, VoIP telephones, and IP cameras. THe proposed design architectuer will provide IP Based tactical terminals, provide interface capability to legacy communication equipment including Sound Powered Telephones, and Analog and ISDN based equipment. Our approach will provide Information Assurance Accreditation, encryption, and high levels of security. The design will be architected to protect bandswidth, to survive battle damage, and to provide a high degree of fault tolerance. The architctuer will be formulated to specifically embrace technology changes and upgrades using modular and industry standard architecture definitions to ensure telecom advances have a direct pathway for integration into the ACCS-ICSN |
Benefits: |
The proposed technology will provide a high degree of control and communications integration, flexibility, and modularity to the shipboard communication and control environment, while substantially reducing the cost of acquisition, maintenance and lifetime support. This proposed architecture will provide for a much easier upgrade path than current systems, and will provide greatly increased ability to incorporate new technologies as they become available. The commercial applications of the technology include commercial vessels, off shore platforms, industrial planats, and any installation that can benefit from the integration of voice and video communications with controls. C3I currently has multiple opporutnities to market and sell such an integrated technology in the marine fields. The addition of the ICS - Next technology into our ACCS technology will proivde immediate opportunities in the commercial marine marketplace for highly competitive, integrated, low cost shipboard integrated communication and control systems. C3I has regular inquiries on the avialability of such a system from our commerical customers. The addition of the capability to our military systems has direct application on current shipbuilding projects on which the ACCS is being installed or is scheduled for installation. |
